Infinity Cat Free Sampler
This mix is about THE BEST BANDS IN THE WORLD.
Why It’s Pretentious: Look guys, I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I have the best job ever. It’s called, I intern at Infinity Cat Recordings. NBD, but I get to fill my heart and soul with the greatest psych-punk-kraut-dirty-lo-fi-pop-countrified-garage-blues-kick-yer-head-in-rock that Nashville, nay, the universe, has to offer. Do I think I’m better than you because of it? I mean, yeah. I do. Now download this spring sampler, get jealous, and then get out to Freakin’ Weekend to hear these live and in action. DOO IT.

Al Lover’s Distorted Reverberations of Reverberated Distortion
This mix is about psychedelic reinterpretations of contemporary rock ‘n roll.
Why It’s Pretentious: ”But Ale!” you say. “You said it was covers week! These are remixes!” Well yes, but what is a remix or a cover but mere interpretation? An innovative take on a recognizable form? Also, these are awesome, so cool yer jets. My favorite is his “psychedelic reinterpretation” of “Hey Friend,” the first single (and, in my opinion, the most stellar tune) off their upcoming album We Are The Champions*. Also, check out Ty Segall, Thee Oh Sees, Moonhearts, Davilla 666, and Natural Child (what up, Infinity Cat!). And… all the rest of them. Right now.

*The video for this song is debuting tomorrow on Rolling Stone. You should probably check it out because it’s gonna blow your mind out of yer eyeballs, ya dig?
Crosswords and Coffee
This mix is about getting back to the grind on Monday mornings, coffee, and crossword puzzles.
Why It’s Pretentious: So anyway, if you say nice things to me, I will probably make you a tape. Or at least a mix. This mix is for crosswordsandcoffee, who left me a nice note about my blog last week. YOU SEE, NOW THE THEME MAKES SENSE. Even though I made this over the weekend, I tried to keep it pretty high school. In other words, I started off acoustic only to end with two electronic/remix songs COMPLETELY OUT OF NOWHERE. Also, there’s a Smiths song. Also, in high school, I really wanted to make a mix about crosswords, but it never happened, so. Moral of the story: say nice things to me so I can procrastinate by fulfilling a high school mixtape dream!
RE: Questions about last week’s Backstreet Boys post (someone please explain to me why you can’t reply to things). Betsy, haha, it was about how I love the Backstreet Boys more than other people love the Backstreet Boys. Amy, of course we’re playing Slow Jams when you come to Nash! Awww yeah.
