Pandamonium

This mix is by the White Panda and is about get off your feet and dance, bro.

Why it’s Pretentious: I’m a little bit late on this one, but to be honest, I haven’t been keeping up with my high school heroes White Panda much lately. Cause I’m an adult now, you dig? I’m glad I found it though because it features the best use of “Teach Me How to Dougie” since “Teach Me How to Study” and more pop songs I (ironically) loved in high school than I can count. Also, his mash up of Lil Wayne’s “The Fireman” is obviously infinitely better than the one that I tried to make senior year.

But uh, let’s not talk about that.

Free download via Bandcamp.

Music for a Zombie Apocalypse

This mix is by Prophet Zen and is about the zombie apocalypse.

Why It’s Pretentious: There are two things I loved in school: zombies and convoluted apocalyptic theories. (Okay, also, X-Men.) So I think it’s fair to say that this mix is my jam. Most of the mix comes from dark and rumble-y orchestral tunes off soundtracks from mind-bending movies, but there’s also a track from Godspeed You Black Emperor! I never listened to Godspeed You Black Emperor! in high school, but I did like yelling their name while running and pouncing on people’s backs.

Stream via 8tracks.

The songs of your youth.

Correction: the songs of your youth that you weren't cool enough to know about.
